Hidden Falls Adventure ParkThe Mardi Crawl is a favorite. You can always expect good food and great wheeling! With all that yummy Cajun gumbo, crawfish and of course King Cake in our bellies, we hit the trails!
Hidden Falls had received a good amount of rain overnight and it would be fitting that we would be getting into some good old muddy gumbo. We headed out to Tro, a trail that follows a creek bed on the western edge of the park. and yes we found some mud! It was a great day of wheeling! Hope you enjoy watching! BTW: the camera survived! : |
Rubicon Trail AdventureIf you're an avid off-road enthusiast or even dabble in the sport of off-roading, the Rubicon Trail is most definitely one of those iconic trails on the top of your bucket list! We had the good fortune to have the opportunity to check this one off our bucket list in late August. For us, it was a 1,826 mile journey from Austin, Texas to the Rubicon trailhead. With the exception of a few of our Jeeps being trailered, most of the Jeeps drove the distance. Matson was kind enough to give us a tour of MetalCloak shortly after our arrival and then the following day we headed out to the Rubicon.
We enjoyed two full days of incredible scenery and nonstop rock crawling. Needless to say, after our two day adventure on the Rubicon Trail, we were totally exhausted, but we all truly had an awesome time and now have some great memories to share about our Rubicon Experience! |
Rocky Mountain AdventureOur high altitude adventure began at the trailhead to the Alpine Loop and San Juan Scenic Byway. This network of four-wheel drive trails and old mining roads connect Ouray, Silverton and Lake City Colorado. The scenery is jaw-droppingly spectacular! The trail winds through stands of aspens into high alpine meadows above the timberline over two summits, past old dilapidated abandoned mines and a ghost town of a by-gone era. Unfortunately, most of us would be on a tight schedule of only two days for this trip.
Day one of our little Jeep adventure took us down Poughkeepsie Gulch Trail to Lake Como, up and over Hurricane Pass to Corkscrew with the promise of a cold beer and a hot meal in Silverton at Handlebars Saloon! The trail took us through an incredible variety of landscapes; some rock strewn with ledges and huge drop-offs, others with vistas and switchbacks, a nice little obstacle to traverse on Poughkeepsie, alpine meadows full of flowers and a beautiful blue glacier lake. We took in beautiful Yankee Boy and Governor's Basin on day two and were rewarded with more incredible scenery and a little snow too. |
Moab, Utah AdventureMoab...Truly an epic Jeep adventure and one we will all most certainly be talking about for years to come. What more could one ask for? Incredible wheeling, breathtaking drops and 360 degrees of killer scenery at every turn. So many trails, so little time.
We can't wait to come back for more. Trails that we wheeled include Hell's Revenge in the Sand Flats Recreation Area, Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike and Gold Bar Rim. |
Hidden Falls Adventure ParkNight wheeling on Halloween night with the Hill Country Crawlers for the Jeepers Creepers Costume Crawl 2016 at Hidden Falls Adventure Park Wheeling at night is something we don't do enough of. We know these trails well, but the darkness adds a whole new element.
This will undoubtedly be the first of many Jeepers Creepers Costume Jeep Crawls to come. Some of the trails that we wheeled on Halloween night at Hidden Falls Adventure Park were Wild Cat Trail, Fenceline and Carnage Canyon. Wheeling at night in creepy costumes?! Yes, please!!! |
K2 Experience in Mason, TexasKatemcy Rocks in Mason, Texas, also known as K2, is one of our favorite off-road parks.
An early morning start, we headed out with 12 Jeeps in our group full of anticipation. K2 never disappoints! The weather was perfect and the wheeling was awesome! We had such a great time and are looking forward to our next visit to Katemcy Rocks! Some of the trails/obstacles we wheeled were Fenceline, Screaming Mimi and Schoolbus. |
