Who are the Trail-Nuts?
We are Jim and Deb Kriegshauser, our kids never cease to amaze and impress us as they embark on their own journeys in life. We couldn’t be prouder of them for the people they’ve become and the paths they are choosing.
When they were young, we would pack up the vehicle and dirt bikes heading out on various journeys, often with no particular destination in mind. We loved finding trails to explore, stunning views and adventures to be had. It was southwestern Colorado in particular that stole our hearts for all it’s splendor and grandeur, and why we bought our first Jeep in 2011. We made countless trips into that part of the country over the years and it was a natural progression for us to get into Jeeping. We added a second Jeep to our family in 2012 and both Jeeps quickly evolved into rock crawlers built to suit the terrain in the Hill Country of Central Texas. where we lived during that time. Their names were Jack and Julius. As obsessed as we were about finding a good trail, we fittingly started calling ourselves the Trail-Nuts. Most weekends we could be found wheeling with friends at Hidden Falls in Marble Falls, Texas. It's fun to occasionally look back at some of the videos we posted to our little YouTube channel back then. Now we cringe a little watching our past selves put our Jeeps through the mill as we did. taking some insane lines, and the most challenging lines time after time. Then we remember how much fun it all was. Expensive but fun.
Our kids have grown up, moved out to start their next phase in life and the time had come for us to begin a new chapter in ours. We would carry with us all those experiences that had shaped us through the years. The ups and yes even the occasional downs. In 2017, we sold the house, bought a motorhome. That motorhome opened up a whole new set of adventures and took us and the Jeep we towed behind her to so many beautiful places out west of the front range. In six years on the road, we had some amazing adventures, witnessed one incredible view after another and made quite a few new lifelong friends. The road was our home and we were like feathers in the wind. Most of the time, it wasn't about getting anywhere in particular. It was pure and simply about the journey. Our motorhome was the mothership, giving us a place to call home while the little orange Jeep we call Julius was our means of escape into the wilds of the backcountry where the real adventures began. Those adventures fueled our love for photography and making the occasional video to document them. The biggest takeaway from those six years on the road was the sense of freedom we experienced! To be able to pretty much go where we wanted to go when we wanted to go there and those times we had a place all to ourselves was everything.
We have since sold our motorhome and settled in Wyoming but our sense of adventure will always burn bright. We're still the Trail-Nuts and there are still so many trails left to explore.
Trust the Journey!!!
There’s a recipe there for a life well-lived, of that we are sure!
